Catalog Updates: Course Changes and Discontinuations

We’re constantly updating our catalog and that’s a good thing! Please read below for more information on recent and upcoming changes.

 

Advanced Career Training

The following courses will be updated effective immediately:

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (GES342)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (Voucher Included) (GES344)
  • Information Security Training (GES358)
  • Information Security Training (Voucher Included) GES359)

How are these courses changing?

We have suspended open enrollment for these course while we revise their content. However, students can pre-enroll in the updated courses, which will launch November 2019.

Why are these courses changing?

These courses are being revised to align with the latest certification requirements and industry best practices.

How does this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no change to the curriculum.

                                                                                  

As a result, the following course bundles will be retired effective immediately:

  • IT Security Survival Training (GES357)
  • IT Security Survival Training (Voucher Included) (GES361)
  • Information Security Master Certification Training (GES356)
  • Information Security Master Certification Training (Voucher Included) (GES360)

Why are these course bundles being retired?

These bundles include CISA and IT Security titles, which are currently being revised.

Will these course bundles be replaced?

Not at this time.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no change to the curriculum.

 


The following courses will be updated on October 29, 2019:

  • Medical Terminology (GES112)

How is this course changing?

The revised course will have an objective-based learning structure that includes new flash cards, audio buttons for practicing pronunciations, and a portfolio project.

Why is this course changing?

This course will be revised to provide a more robust and accessible learning experience for students.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no change to the curriculum. Active students can also transfer to the updated course if they want to access the new content, but they will lose their current progress.

 


The following course will be retired on December 17, 2019:

  • Physical Therapy Aide (GES125)

Why is this course being retired?

We had planned to revise this course to better align with AMCA PT Technician/Aide certification exam. However, we found that creating a robust replacement would provide a more optimal learning experience.

Will this course be replaced?

Yes. The new title, Certified Physical Therapy Aide (Voucher Included), will launch October 15, 2019.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no change to the curriculum.


 

Fundamentals

The following course will be updated effective immediately:

  • Accounting with Excel Suite (B9093)

How is this course changing?

The course title, Accounting with Excel Suite (B9093), was changed to Accounting with Excel 2016 Suite (B9093).

Why is this course changing?

We added the software year (2016) to this title to better distinguish from a newer title, Accounting with Excel 2019 Suite.

How will this impact students?

There will be no impact to students.

  • Microsoft Access 2010 Certification Training (GES831)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Windows 7 (GES836)

Why were these courses retired?

These courses were retired due to outdated content.

Will these courses be replaced?

No. We offer several newer Microsoft Certification titles, including Microsoft Access 2016 Certification Training (GES874) and Microsoft Access 2019 Certification Training (GES884).

How will this impact students?

There are no pending or active students.

 


The following course will be revised on October 8, 2019:

  • Travel Agent Training (GES218)

Why is this course changing?

This course will be updated to better prepare students for the Certified Travel Agent exam.

How is this course changing?

The updated version of the course will include new learning activities, lesson objectives, and Travefy, a new reservation simulation.

Will the price change?

Yes. Suggested retail price will increase from $1,795 to $1,995.

How will this impact students?

Active students can transfer to the updated course if they want to access the new content.

These courses will prepare students for different specialties in the HVAC/R field and include more than 200 true-to-life service call simulations. More information can be found here.

In an effort for continuous improvement, this course will be retired due to outdated material. In lieu of GES103, we recommend directing students to our more targeted medical coding courses, Certified Outpatient Coder (GES153) or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (GES167).


The following course was discontinued and will be removed from the catalog effective immediately:

  • HVACR Certified Technician (GES705)
In lieu of GES705, we recommend directing students to our new HVAC/R Certified Technician (Voucher Included) (GES793) and HVAC/R Technician (Voucher Included) (GES786) courses. These courses will prepare students for different specialties in the HVAC/R field. More information can be found here.

Advanced Career Training Courses

In an effort for continuous improvement, we are changing the titles of two National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) certification courses to include the phrase “Voucher Included.” Students receive a prepaid voucher to take the NCSF certification exam associated with their specific course upon completion, so the title will be revised to reflect this.

The following course titles will be changed accordingly on May 15, 2019:

  • NCSF Certified Strength Coach (GES160) will be listed as NCSF Certified Strength Coach (Voucher Included)
  • NCSF Sports Nutrition Specialist (GES159) will be listed as NCSF Sport Nutrition Specialist (Voucher Included)

In addition, the following courses have been discontinued and will be removed from the catalog effective immediately:

  • Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Specialist 2013 (GES844)
  • Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office 2013 Master (GES842)

These courses were retired due to outdated course content. We recommend directing your students to Certified Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Specialist 2016 (Vouchers Included) (GES2012) or Certified Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Master 2016 (Vouchers Included) (GES2013) in lieu of these courses.

Advanced Career Training

In an effort for continuous improvement, the following courses will be discontinued and replaced with more robust course offerings:

  • HVACR Certified Technician (GES705)
    • This course will be removed from the catalog on April 22, 2019.
  • HVACR Technician – NATE Service CORE Certified Technician (GES772)
    • This course will be removed from the catalog on May 8, 2019.
While these soon-to-be discontinued courses primarily align with the NATE and HVAC Excellence Air Conditioning track, our upcoming HVACR courses will prepare students for multiple specialty tracks. The new courses will also include more than 200 real world simulations, so students can practice their skills in common service call situations.

 

More information on our new HVACR courses will be released in February 2019.

  • Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative (GES106)

In lieu of this discontinued course, we recommend directing your students to Certified Pharmaceutical Sales Representative (Exam Included) (GES192). Students will train for a career in pharmaceutical sales by learning the rules, regulations, and best practices of promoting prescription drugs. They will also learn key medical terms, making them an asset to any pharmaceutical sales team. Students will receive a Pharmaceutical Representative Certification (PRC) upon completion.
